The Race is a playful, rhyming children’s story about a blond-haired little girl who challenges her uncle to a swimming race. He assumes it will be an easy win, but the moment he dives into the pool, the story takes a wild turn.
As the race unfolds, he comes face to face with a surprising sea creature with a blond ponytail and a competitive streak of her own. Before he knows it, the race is over, the trophy is claimed, and the entire challenge becomes a hilarious memory kids will not forget.
With its fast pace, fun rhythm, and offbeat sense of humor, The Race is a lighthearted read that works well for story time, family reading, and young readers who enjoy silly twists and imaginative adventures.
Keegan Clapp is a young illustrator from Delta, Ohio, whose creativity and love of rural life bring a distinctive energy to the Udder Chaos series. At just 14 years old when the first book was published, Udder Chaos marked Keegan’s very first illustration project, making his work a true debut in children’s publishing.
Keegan’s illustrations are inspired by everyday experiences growing up in Fulton County, including life on the farm and time spent at the county fair. When he’s not drawing, he enjoys farming, golfing, and walking his dairy cow, Fulton, around the county fairgrounds. That firsthand connection to fair life adds authenticity, humor, and heart to the illustrations readers love.
Through this collaboration, My World Press proudly highlights its commitment to supporting young creators and giving student artists meaningful opportunities to see their work published, celebrated, and shared with readers far beyond their local community.
